If You’re Happy and You Know It
I’m a parent with little ones who love music. I encourage putting music on in the car, in the living room and when we play outside in our backyard. In recent years, I’ve felt somewhat ripped off when Spotify Wrapped emerges. It’s as if their taste in music has become my taste in music and it’s far from the tunes that reflect who I am.
Fortunately, I was prepared this year and a lot more accepting of my Spotify Wrapped fate and the pending results. I knew that The Wiggles ‘If You’re Happy and You Know It’ would secure my ‘top song’ spot. I streamed it 33 times to be precise! Is that all!? What can I say, my youngest is two years old and knows what he wants.
The Wiggles are the greatest children’s entertainers, ever. I had the pleasure of seeing them live for the first time recently. The energy and passion they bring to the stage coupled with the way they interact and give time to their audience was inspiring to watch. For over 30 years they have been an evolving institution and a part of children’s lives both here in Australia and overseas. Where would be without The Wiggles?!
Also, Dorothy The Dinosaur is a DJ nowadays, she has levelled up and I am here for it!
Second spot in my Spotify Wrapped is one that reflects my taste a little more (thank goodness), Beyonce ‘TEXAS HOLD ‘EM’. Those that know me well would not be surprised by this. Afterall, I had a Beyonce themed Hens party (let’s save that story for another day!) I recall streaming this song atleast ten times on the day it was released. Filled with intrigue by her new country sound, all I could envisage was some sort of viral Tik Tok dance. It didn’t take long for that to happen!

About: ROSÉ (Roseanne Park) is a New Zealand and South Korean singer songwriter who also grew up in Australia. A member of South Korean girl group Blackpink with a solo career to back it up, she is the K-pop kreative kween. This is only the beginning!
Sounds Like: Strong female independence with the sweetest tone. ROSÉ is an incredible songwriter with a young at heart approach to storytelling and music that evokes all the emotions. Is she the next Taylor Swift? I was reminded of her listening to this album.

Did You Know: ROSÉ was hesitant to include ‘APT’ on the album as its’ sound differed to her other songs. It was when she met with Bruno Mars for a session and he agreed to jump on the song with her, that she felt settled. Together, they had a lot of fun, particularly whilst making the music video which transcends easily to the audience. Shoutout to my husband for educating me on the fact that ‘APT’ is about a Korean drinking game called Apartment. I’m in!
